When we bought this house 4 1/2 years ago we were given the option of grass or desert landscape. For me there was NO question...grass it, baby. Well, I don't think I realized that grass landscape meant a bowling alley strip of grass. Seriously, is that the best we could do?
It is a pain to maintain such a small amount and a pain to own and operate a mower for this ity bity strip, so we are making changes. Steve started the process of removing the grass...easier said than done, even with this small amount. So we brought in the big guns. We knew someone, who knew someone, who knows someone that owns a backhoe. Within 15 minutes we went from this...
To this.
And within a total of 30 minutes...to this...
Now for some curbing, artificial grass, a tree, and a few bushes and we will be almost maintenance free! And the grass will be green year round!
Pictures of the finished products later...hopefully this will be complete before the HOA gets wind of our non permit project!

Grass is such a joke in Las Vegas! Can't wait to see what it looks like when you are done!
I agree that desert landscaping is the way to go. Good luck!
Ooooo! Look out! The association Nazi's are gonna get cha!:) Maybe they won't even notice though if you get it in fast enough!
When we first moved into our house I was so disappointed that we didn't have grass, but now I am so happy it has desert landscaping. It is so much easier to take care of. Yours is going to look really good.
I have tried to explain to people out here about the artificial grass in Vegas, but they just don't believe me!
